From Althea Kitchens of the International Rescue Committee:
Thank you for your continued support!
As for updates, the IRC continues to work in Ethiopia. Previously, the IRC had programming in all four camps in the region ( My’Ayni, Adi Harush, Hitsats and Shimelba). But now as Shimelba and Hitsatshave closed down due to damage during the fighting, IRC only operates in My Ayni and Adi Harush and Shire town. Thus, the IRC is supporting approx. 60,000 refugees in two camps in the area and Internally Displaced People in Shire town and other areas within Tigray with clean water and sanitation, protection, reproductive healthcare and education. All parties must ensure life-saving aid can continue uninterrupted.
Last month the IRC posted an article about the need to heighten support for women and girls who are adversely affected during times of conflict and natural disaster: https://www.rescue.org/press-release/tigray-six-months-women-still-bear-brunt-conflict-warns-irc
