Lucy Bayouh, Health Program Manager Lucy is currently working for Peace Corps Ethiopia as a Program Manager for Health Sector. Lucy joined Peace Corps in May 24, 2020. Prior to Peace Corps, Lucy has worked as an area office program manager responsible for coordinating all PSI/E projects including USAID/Ethiopia. Coordinating and giving technical support on HIV and nutrition project at Save the Children. On top of this, Lucy has been managing the partnership with Lucy holds MPH from Addis Ababa University, School of Public Health in 2014 and BSC, from University of Gondar, Faculty of Medicine in 2007. |

Daniel Okubit, Program Manager for Education I am a teacher educator and have been on this job for over 25 years now. I started off as a high school teacher and moved up to a teachers’ My job as a Program Manager is composed of a lot of enjoyable elements that I love doing at all times. In this capacity, and in alignment with PC missions and goals, I am strongly convinced that I am serving my country as well as the agency. Our Education project is a TEFL program for which we train generalist Volunteers to become English teachers and support local English teachers in their assigned schools. We train, evaluate and supervise our Volunteers to become the good professional English teachers we would like them to be and ready to serve their host country. |

Ayu Golema, Acting Director of Programming and Training (DPT) Ayu is currently working for Peace Corps Ethiopia as a Programming and Training Support Coordinator and Acting DPT. She also serves as the staff liaison for Gender in Development and the World Wise Schools program. She worked for Peace Corps as a Programming and Training Assistant for the Education sector for about six years. Ayu first joined Peace Corps as a language and cross culture facilitator and worked for about six consecutive Pre Service Trainings. Prior to Peace Corps, Ayu started her career as a schoolteacher and taught English in secondary schools, technical and vocational institute, and teacher’s college. Ayu has a master’s degree from Arsi University in Social work and BA degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Haramaya University. |

Nebiyu Tadesse, Agriculture Program Manager I have served as a teacher, community development worker and trainer on the areas of crop production, food security, climate change and environmental protection for the last 21 years. After graduating with a BSC degree in plan science in 2001, I joined Agricultural TVET College and thought for four years. And then joined Addis Ababa University to study Environmental Science for two years and accomplished MSC degree in 2007. Soon after my graduation, I got the opportunity to work at USAID Urban Garden project as ‘Operational area coordinator’ for about two years. I proceeded in my career and joined Peace Corps Ethiopia in 2010. I have worked in Peace Corps Ethiopia as a Program assistant for three years and Program Manager for 10 years. I have been working in the Agriculture Program since the beginning of the program which started by working on environmental protection and named as ‘Environment program’ and after a while shifted its focus on food and nutrition security and called ‘Agriculture program’. |

Hishe Hailu, Safety and Security Manager Hishe has been the Safety and Security Manager for Peace Corps/Ethiopia since 2014 and Safety and Security Coordinator from 2010 - 2013. Prior to his current position, he worked as Language and Community Trainer for Peace Corps/Ethiopia. Earlier in his career, Hishe worked as an Editor in Publishing House. He has also written children’s supplementary book. Hishe studied Foreign Languages and Literature (English Major) at Addis Ababa University. Hishe is married and father of two. He has three brothers and five sisters. In his spare time, he reads magazines and newspapers about health and current situation. He also likes to watch soccer and movies. Hishe’s strengths include his interpersonal skills, his good knowledge on local culture and English language. He is a tactful and soft-spoken conqueror of all problems. Hishe’s rewarding part of his job so far are his support to PC/ Ethiopia during different civil unrest and better way of responding to victims of crimes. Hishe is looking forward to focusing on several improvements to better support volunteers and staff. Adjusting EAP for the current security issues with better response strategies; better training to volunteers and staff. |

Obie Shaw, Country Director Obie has served as the U.S. Peace Corps’ Country Director in Ethiopia since December 2018. He received the Director’s Distinguished Service Award in 2020. Prior to rejoining the Agency, Obie was the Chief of Party for the USAID-funded Cameroon Peace Promotion Project (CP3) based in Yaoundé, and the Chief of Party for a USAID-funded project in Chad focused on combating violent extremism in the Sahel. Obie previously worked with Peace Corps as an expert consultant with the Office of Inspector General; an expert consultant for the Africa Region; and country director and APCD in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for eight and a half years. Obie served for five years as a Peace Corps Volunteer (Math Teacher in the Central African Republic and Youth Development Agent in Tunisia) and he is a retired noncommissioned officer (NCO) with the U.S. Air Force. He attended the University of Utah earning degrees in Economics and Political Science. Obie is fluent in French and proficient in Arabic. |
