Welcome, Ethiopia & Eritrea RPCVs!
Expanding our Focus Beyond Tigray
Sadly, the situation in Tigray continues to worsen, and the suffering is spreading to other parts of the country. The neighboring Amhara and Afar regions are particularly hard-hit. STC and IRC continue to work in Tigray where famine is now a reality, but they are also present in other areas. MSF recently told us that while one of its section’s activities was suspended, other sections continue to work in multiple areas of Ethiopia as well as in Sudan serving Ethiopian refugees from Tigray.
Because we wish to continue our aid campaign, the board decided to expand our original emphasis from Tigray to a broader nationwide effort. This will give all three NGOs the flexibility to use our funds where they can in the most practicable manner. As always, any funds we raise will be earmarked for these organizations’ Ethiopia programs.
E&E RPCVs needs you!
Given the amazing response we received for our Tigray Relief Fund and looking to the future, the E&E RPCVs Board of Directors believes it is time to expand the group’s focus beyond its traditional role as a connecting point between E&E RPCVs, its longtime Legacy Program, and recent humanitarian relief activities. To do this, we plan to use the Zoom/virtual meeting medium to attract your active participation, but for us to implement it, we need volunteers to serve on committees and new board members.
